Mercury is a natural contaminant found in earth’s crust. Mercury is thus released into the environment from a variety of natural sources. The main reasons to remove mercury from hydrocarbons are HSE-related issues, corrosion problems and catalyst poisoning, faced in natural gas processing plants, oil refineries, petrochemical industry and power plants.
