Thumb_Axens_CB - Commercial Bulletin AxTrapTM Chloride Series

Chloride is important in both catalytic reforming and isomerization as it helps to maintain catalytic activity over time. However, as chloride is continuously fed in these units, it also has to exit. Chlorides in the form of HCI (Hydrogen Chloride) cause corrosion problems and together with ammonia precipitate as ammonium salt in valves, compressors, columns and fuel gas systems. HCl can also combine with light olefins to form organic chlorides that also can create issues in downstream equipment. Chloride removal is crucial in isomerization and Catalytic reformorming units to prevent operational issues (corrosion / plugging) as well as to meet product specifications.
